Some dogs are born unfortunate, abandoned to survive the dangers of the streets all on their own. George was one of those dogs. Wandering lonely for months, his body was not only worn out by hunger and thirst but also besieged by an invisible yet terrifying enemy: a massive tick infestation.

A Beginning Built on One Kind Woman’s Patience
The story that changed George’s life began when a kind-hearted woman spotted him on the streets. Seeing George’s emaciated and terrified appearance, she started bringing him food every day, hoping to help.
At first, George was incredibly fearful and alert. He would withdraw and run away whenever he sensed the slightest threat. However, the woman’s love and consistency over several months gradually melted the ice of fear in the little dog’s heart. George finally trusted her enough to step into her yard. Even so, he still kept his distance, only allowing her to approach when he felt completely safe.
When the time came to take George to the grooming salon, the biggest challenge was getting him into the carrier. Noticing that George became anxious and fled whenever the rescue team members appeared, they decided to step back and let the woman—the only person he trusted—lure him in. The strategy worked perfectly. George calmly entered the crate, ready for a life-changing journey.
A Breathless Battle with a “Tick Infestation” at the Grooming Salon
The moment George arrived at the salon, the groomer immediately noticed a severe problem: George’s body was a breeding ground for thousands of ticks. They were crawling everywhere, from tiny, microscopic ones to those as big as a fingernail, even dropping all over the floor and the grooming table.
The removal process required immense patience and professional skills:
-
Shaving and Cleaning Simultaneously: The groomer had to discard the shaved fur immediately to keep the ticks contained in a safe place, preventing them from escaping and spreading throughout the salon.
-
Using Anti-Parasite Liquid Strategically: Initially, a low-concentration anti-parasite solution was applied to make the ticks dizzy and easier to catch. A full-strength chemical wasn’t used right away because the process took hours, and high doses could poison both the dog and the groomer.
-
Constantly Checking the Blade’s Temperature: Since George’s coat was heavily matted and thick, the shaving process took a long time (lasting over 2 hours). The groomer had to periodically check the blade against his own skin to ensure it wouldn’t overheat and burn George’s sensitive skin.
Despite being tired and a bit restless from standing in the same position for so long, George was incredibly cooperative. He seemed to understand that these people were trying to free him from the constant itching and pain.
Power from the Community and a Stunning New Look
After two and a half hours of continuous, unbroken work, the groomer was physically exhausted. However, right at that moment during his live stream, a viewer’s message gave him the strength to keep going: “If you can’t adopt, donate. If you can’t donate, foster. If you can’t foster, volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, educate.” It is precisely the support and empathy from the community that provides the greatest strength for rescuers to continue their mission.
After having his matted, tick-ridden coat completely shaved off, followed by a thorough medicated bath and a blow-dry, George was ready for his final haircut. Although his damaged coat prevented a 100% perfect styling, the groomer’s dedication gave George a completely fresh look: clean, neat, and absolutely adorable.
Looking at George now, no one could recognize the scruffy, terrified stray dog from the streets just a few hours prior. The suspicion in his eyes had faded, replaced by relief and happiness now that the heavy burden of parasites was finally gone.
Message from the Video: Ticks are not just a nuisance; they carry dangerous diseases that can threaten the lives of both animals and humans. If you see an animal or human with a severe tick infestation, contact a doctor or veterinarian immediately for safe and proper treatment.
